WELCOME TO MONKSTOWN PARK JUNIOR SCHOOL
Situated in the heart of Monkstown, South Co. Dublin, our school caters for boys and girls from Junior Infants to sixth class. We are a member of the Association of Independent Junior Schools and maintain a strong link with other AIJS schools in Dublin. We regularly attend various organised events throughout the year.
Whilst our fundamental focus is on quality education following the National School Guidelines as set out by the Department of Education and Skills. Our core values are centred on developing each pupil as a well-rounded individual. Monkstown Park Junior School offers a full and varied curriculum that brings out the best in every child.
We also encourage an inquiry based learning approach which focuses on investigating open-ended questions within various subject areas of the curriculum. This encourages each child to develop critical thinking skills and become active independent participants in their own learning. This is done through lots of group projects within the classroom and also within our dedicated STEM suite (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The children have access to this suite throughout the busy school week so they can carry out various tasks given to them.
We are extremely lucky to be situated on such a large school campus with access to large outdoor spaces. This is used regularly by the children to explore the natural outdoor learning environment and be close to nature. Physical activity is vital for each child's development and lays the foundation for a healthy and active life. In Monkstown Park Junior School there is an emphasis on physical activity and health promotion. We start off our school day with a run around the whole school campus teachers, pupils and parents take part in this daily event. It has really proven to increase attention and memory span and encourages the pupils to start the day on a very positive note which helps facilitate learning . We are very proud of everyone who partakes in our early morning exercise.
Amongst this, each child within our school is assigned to one of our four long established house teams. Pupils from Junior Infants to sixth class work together on group projects throughout the year to build up points for their house team. There are many events throughout the school year that encourages team work in areas such as ; art competitions, group talent spots, orator competitions and much more.
Monkstown Park Junior School naturally fosters a solid school ethic that works collaboratively with students, teachers and parents alike. I would encourage you to arrange a visit to meet with me so you can see our school in action, meet our dedicated teaching team and experience first had what our wonderful school has to offer.
I look forward to personally welcoming you to our school.
